Half Marathons That Post Their Event Dates One Year in Advance Have Better Success

Food for thought. Half Marathon events that post their event date one year in advance have better success. Events that post their dates within 6 months or less prior to the race have little to no success, unless they are just a small local race with no large attendance expectations. Yes, there are things to deal with, like permits. Talk to the appropriate people early, and submit your applications for permits early. Get in the groove and build a close relationship with these folks.

Recently, I had a race tell me they didn't post their date yet due to permitting issues. Come to find out, after speaking to the Mayor's office, and the city council / city planning committee, this race director never submitted an application for permit yet, nor had a discussion with them yet. Race Organizers, please be honest with your partners, clubs, and participants.
